Epidemics and Pandemics

While the chances of an epidemic, such as Ebola, spreading across the US is slight, it is important that the nation’s transit agencies learn more about these viruses and how to recognize the symptoms. The documents linked below were developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other agencies and are resources you may utilize within your systems to ensure a knowledgeable workforce. Provided for you are four CDC Ebola fact sheets and posters that you may post in your drivers’ lounge area or other common area. In addition, there are a number of articles and informational pieces listed including, Infection Control Guidelines for Cabin Crew Members on Commercial Aircraft that, while developed for the aviation industry, does provide some procedural items of interest and relevance for any provider of passenger transportation. Finally, we encourage you to please work with your local health departments or state and local emergency operations personnel for locally relevant direction and resources.
