Information is provided on a variety of onboard and wayside friction control applications used in a transit environment to reduce noise, reduce wheel and rail wear, control truck steering forces, and reduce train energy. Descriptions of these applications are provided, along with their most appropriate uses. Operational issues associated with their use are also discussed. The report culminates in the provision of guidelines for selecting various types of friction control technologies. View Report
