This report presents methods and research activities that informed the development of TCRP Report 175. The key research activity was visiting several public transit rail services crossings within select regions. These visits provided the opportunity to observe the challenges faced by pedestrians at public transit rail services crossings and included observations made during three site visits to Boston, Portland, and Los Angeles.
